Basso
Ballet Master & Yoga Professor
Originally from Dijon, France, Guillaume Basso, received his ballet training from Sylvain Boniface at the Conservatory of Dijon and Bernard Boucher at Paris Opera Ballet. Guillaume danced with Pacific Northwest Ballet from 2015 - 2022. While with PNB, Guillaume danced several key roles in George Balanchine’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Nutcracker, including Mouse King, Soldier Doll and Mother Ginger. He has captured the audience's attention as Puss in Boots in Ronald Hynd’s Sleeping Beauty, Harlequin in Kent Stowell’s Cinderella, and in the Pas de Deux of Margarita Armas’ premiere film, Kawsay. Guillaume has earned accolades as a semi-finalist in 2010 Prix de Lausanne and 2014 Jackson International Ballet Competition. Before dancing with PNB, Guillaume performed with Joffrey Ballet and Houston Ballet II.
Joyfully and passionately sharing the ballet art form with others, Guillaume has performed as a guest artist with Grand Theatre of Dijon, choreographed for the 2017 and 2018 Next Step program at Pacific Northwest Ballet and 2018 Seattle International Dance Festival, and developed his teaching techniques at Maple Valley School of Ballet and Prague International Contemporary Dance Workshop. Upon retiring from the ballet stage, Guillaume received his 500 hr Yoga Teacher Certification from Sampoorna Yoga. Guillaume has created a unique regimen for physical conditioning for dancers. Keenly aware and respectful of the human anatomy, Guillaume practices revolutionary teaching techniques in his ballet education that promote students from the rudimentary work at the barre to the exhilarating performance on the stage.
